IDX pages showing up without your header and footer, or with the wrong ones?

What is happening

Search results, single listings and the lead tools are generated by IDX Broker as standalone pages. The frame around them, your header and footer, comes from the dynamic wrapper, a page on your site that IDX Broker reads. When those pages show up bare or with someone else's frame, the wrapper is usually not set, pointing at a page it should not, or still being served from a cached copy of an older version. The wrapper page also has to be publicly reachable, so a page kept private, password protected or behind a staging login cannot be read.

Changed your header and nothing happened? Refresh the cached wrapper

IDX Broker keeps a cached copy of the wrapper page, so edits to your header, footer or menu do not appear on the IDX pages until that copy is refreshed. You refresh it on the same screen where the Dynamic URL is set. If you are on MyHome IDX, you can also clear that cache from the panel, on MyHome IDX then IDX Design Sync. This is the most common reason a wrapper edit seems to have no effect.

Check the wrapper in IDX Broker

Log in to IDX Broker and go to Design then Website then Wrappers, open the Global tab and look at the Dynamic URL field. A few things can be wrong there. The field is empty, so no wrapper is applied and the IDX pages stand alone. Or the field points at a page that no longer matches your site, an old wrapper page, a previous website, a page that was redesigned, so the IDX pages carry an outdated header and footer. Or the address is right and the page has since been edited, in which case refresh the cached copy from the same screen.

Set the wrapper

The wrapper page itself is two small tags on a page of your site, and IDX Pages and the Dynamic Wrapper on Any Website explains the whole mechanism. Once the wrapper page exists and is publicly reachable, paste its URL into the Dynamic URL field, save, and refresh the cached copy so the current version of the page is picked up.

Using our Complete IDX Website?

Publishing a website from My Website switches the account-wide wrapper to that website automatically. If your IDX pages suddenly carry a different header than you expected, a recent publish is the usual reason, as explained in Publish Your Website on Your Own Domain.

Check the result

Open any IDX page on your account, the search results are the easiest, and refresh it. Your header should sit at the top, your footer at the bottom, and the content between them still follows your IDX Broker templates, which is a separate setting.
