Add an IDX Search Form to Wix
The click-by-click way to put an IDX search form on a Wix page, running on the data from your IDX Broker account.
Written by IDX Plugin, an independent IDX Broker Developer Partner, not affiliated with IDX Broker.
In short
- Any search form layout runs on your Wix page, nothing to code.
- Dropdowns open in full once the element has room.
- A covered dropdown comes back with Bring to Front.
- Needs a free IDX Plugin account with your API key added.
The search form on a Wix page is one task from IDX Plugin for Wix. Any layout from Search Forms, Every Layout Explained works here, from the full hero bar to the AI form, and the embed steps follow the same pattern. You need a free IDX Plugin account with your IDX Broker API key added, because that is where the embed code lives.
Here is the form itself, running live. This is what lands on your Wix page once you paste the code.
Embed the form on your page
-
1
Add an Embed HTML element
Open the Wix Editor on the page where the form should appear, usually the homepage. Click the + icon, choose Embed Code, then Embed HTML.
-
2
Place and resize it
Drag the element where you want the form and stretch it. The form contains dropdowns, so give the element enough height as well as width.
-
3
Get your embed code
In a new tab, open your IDX Plugin dashboard. Find the search form widget you want, click the three-dot menu and choose Show Embed Code.
-
4
Copy the code
Copy the snippet from the popup.
-
5
Paste it in Wix
Back in the Wix editor, paste the code into the element and click Update below the code area. The form appears, running on the data from your IDX Broker account.
Fix cut-off dropdowns
If a dropdown opens and you cannot see all of it, two settings solve it. If it is cut off at the edge of the embed area, make the Embed HTML element taller, so the open dropdown fits inside it. If it disappears under another section, right-click the element and choose Arrange and then Bring to Front, so it sits above the elements around it.
Where the search sends visitors
Every search leads to the pages generated from your IDX Broker account: results, single listings, lead forms. Making those pages match your site is its own short task, covered in IDX Property Pages and Your Wix Site, with our IDX Broker templates doing most of the work. You can see the search form live on our demo site.
