MyHome IDX Theme, Install and Overview

Start here if you're setting up the MyHome IDX theme on your own WordPress site, from download to a ready-to-edit demo.

Install it step by step

    Click download myhome-idx.zip.

    In WordPress go to Appearance › Themes and click Add Theme.

    Click Upload Theme.

    Click Choose file.

    Pick myhome-idx.zip and click Install Now.

    Click Activate.

    A notice lists the four plugins the theme needs. Click Begin installing plugins.

    Select all four, choose Install and click Apply.

    Let it finish, then click Return to Required Plugins Installer.

    Select all four again, switch to Activate and click Apply.

    Click any item in the WordPress menu on the left, Dashboard for example. The page reloads and three new theme items appear there: Demo Importer, MyHome IDX and MyHome Updater.

    Open Demo Importer and pick a starter site.

    Click Import and keep the tab open until it finishes.

    It ends on the MyHome IDX panel, where you set the logo and your contact details.

    What you do next is up to you. Style the site, or connect IDX and see your own listings on it.

Upload rejected?
If the upload stops on a timeout or a memory message, one of the server requirements is not met yet. Write to our support without hesitating, we will check it with you and get the theme installed.

Common questions

No. Elementor is the page builder the theme uses, and it offers a paid version, but nothing here needs it. The demos and everything in them run on the free one.
A clean WordPress install is the better start, with no old plugins or leftovers in the database. On a site that already has content, the demo import removes what is there and puts the demo site in its place, so keep that in mind before you run it.
Yes, but it replaces your page content, so decide before you start editing.
Technically yes, but then every page has to be laid out from scratch in Elementor, which takes hours, so we do not recommend it. The demos are light, they carry few assets, and they exist to save you that work.
It hides itself once the import is done, so nobody resets the site by accident. To import a different starter site, open MyHome IDX in the WordPress menu, then Advanced then Demo Importer, and switch it back on.
Usually a server limit, most often memory or execution time. Raise it and run the import again. If it still stops, send the message you see to our support without hesitating, we will look at it with you and finish the install.
