When Your Theme's Styling Reaches the IDX Widgets

Why this happens

A widget on your page is two design engines meeting. Your theme has its own styling rules for fonts, buttons and spacing, and the widget brings its own, driven by your Global Styles. Usually they coexist without a problem. Occasionally the theme's rules reach into the widget, and you see squeezed spacing, a changed font, off colors or a layout pressed into a container that is too narrow. In most cases nothing is broken on either side, the two sets of rules simply met in one spot and that spot needs a manual touch. Other causes are possible too, which is why the checks below come first.

Two checks before anything else

First, confirm the styling source. Open Global Styles and the widget's own Appearance tab, covered in Adjust Search Form Fields and Appearance, and make sure the fonts and colors you see there are the ones you expect. A forgotten per-widget override looks a lot like a theme conflict. Second, look at the container the widget sits in. A column that is too narrow, a section with a fixed height or an embed element that is too small will squeeze any widget, and giving the element more room often sorts it out, as the platform guides show for WordPress with Elementor, Wix, Squarespace and Webflow.
